形態特徵

• Small evergreen trees; twigs grayish brown, later dark brown, terete, young twigs green, glabrous, ridged below petioles; terminal buds glabrous, ovoid, apex acute.
• Leaves coriaceous, oblong or obovate, 4–13 cm long, 2–4 cm wide, apex acuminate to caudate, with apiculate tip, base acute to attenuate, margins slightly recurved, crenulate with teeth, teeth 1–4 mm apart, both surfaces glabrous; midrib impressed on upper surface, prominent on lower surface; nerves 6 or 7 pairs, slightly prominent or indistinct on lower surface, petiole glabrous, 5–12 cm long.
• Inflorescences axillary, a racemes, usually clustered near apex of branches, 1–5 cm long, axis pilose or almost glabrous, bracts caducous, ovate to widely ovate, 4–5 mm long, glabrous or appressed pubescent, apex obtuse or acute, margin ciliate, bracteoles 2, caducous, ovate to narrowly triangular, keeled, apex acute to acuminate, midrib appressed hairy on the midrib, 2–2.5 mm long, margin ciliate and often with a few glands at the base, pedicels pilose or glabrous, to 3 mm long. Calyx tube glabrous, ca. 2 mm long, limb 1.5–2 mm long, lobes valvate, triangular, 1–1.5 mm long, apex acute or obtuse, margin ciliate; corolla white, 6–7 mm long, deeply 5-lobed, tube 0.5–1 mm long, lobes elliptic; stamens 20–30, connate at base, disc glabrous, annular to shortly cylindrical; style glabrous, 7–8 mm long, ovary 3-locular.
• Fruits ovoid, crowned by persistent calyx lobes, 7–9 mm long, ca. 6 mm in diam.

分布

• 台灣 : only two specimens are known from central Taiwan.
• 世界 : S. China.
